Waterway Cleanup is a one- day event that attracts over 2,000 volunteers and 100 boats throughout South Florida to clean up the waterways in Broward County.

At each location from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., participants will receive cleanup instructions, garbage bags, and complimentary T-shirts while supplies last.

When

Where

Twenty-four cleanup sites in Broward County from City of Deerfield Beach in the north, to the City of Hallandale in the south, and west to Plantation, Coral Springs and Coconut Creek. Event flyers and details will be available at Broward County Publix Super Markets, local marine and non-marine retail stores, online at www.WaterwayCleanup.org or by calling (954) 524-2733.

Who

Everyone is encouraged to pre-register online at www.WaterwayCleanup.org and participate on March 5. Volunteers are needed to work along the shorelines and waterfront, as well as on the water in boats. This is a great opportunity for neighbors, community groups, clubs and others to learn about and help preserve our marine environment. School students are especially encouraged to participate and can even earn community service hours!

Sponsors include the Florida Inland Navigation District, Publix Super Markets, Broward County Environmental Protection & Growth Management Department, Broward County Waste & Recycling Services, North Springs Improvement District, Coral Springs Improvement District, Southeast Florida Coral Reef Initiative, National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation, Choice Environmental, Dumpster King, FlexSol, South Florida Water Management District, Lauderdale Isles Water Management District, City of Fort Lauderdale, City of Oakland Park, City of Coconut Creek, Florida Power & Light.

2010 Results
