Welcome to Fernandina & Amelia Island

Resting just off the coast of northeast Florida, Amelia Island welcomes you to experience its rich, colorful history and breath-taking natural beauty. With 13-miles of beautiful beaches, abundant native wildlife, and pristine waters, this barrier island has long been a beloved destination for visitors and residents alike. In fact, Amelia was recently voted #6 among Top 10 North American Islands by Conde Nast Traveler's 2008 Reader's Choice Awards, making it the highest ranked island destination in Florida for two consecutive years.

Amelia Island is also a boater's paradise. With endless opportunities to enjoy a day on the water, there are plenty of places to fish, watch wildlife and see great sites.

The heart of downtown Fernandina is Centre Street, a charming eight-block corridor with pedestrian-friendly street-scaping leading to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Fernandina Harbor Marina, where shrimp boats unload catches and charter boats depart for sightseeing and fishing. Surrounding shops offer an array of art, antiques, apparel, books, candy, collectibles, dry goods, furnishings, gifts, jewelry, souvenirs, tobacco and toys. Cafes and restaurants provide a spectrum of cuisine. Bed and breakfast inns offer a selection of overnight accommodations. Information By Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau
